The District of Columbia has a bevy of merciless and mendaciously-driven judges that hand down egregious sentences for actions that neither merited such length of time in jail (or prison), nor cognitively meet the basic requirements of actual great harm. When no one dies (at the hands of the defendant), no one lost their livelihood (in respect to the charges presented), no significant property damage was done (again, by the defendant) and there no priors to base sentencing enhancements on, then one should wonder (and it is obvious here) the motivation behind handing down 17 years in a Federal Prison.
I guess I was not a good enough student history because I've been genuinely surprised by how successfully the state has persecuted the J6 defendants for mostly trespassing, with some minor property crimes and assaults. If this were inner-city crime all defendants would have served their time already with most not spending a whole day in jail.
The federal government is out of control and will not give up any power unless forced.
I have to admit, I'm fairly pessimistic about the prospects of any revolutionary spirit being allowed to effect change at this point. I think it's already too late for that.
All of the machinery of the corporate and intelligence state is against it. Those with eyes to see have witnessed the power of propoganda these past years. Every digital detail of everyones lives is being cataloged by the three letter agencies. The psyops against american citizens are running 24/7. Any real opposition can now be detected early and put down before it grows.
We have only a few ways out. One of them may simply be mass noncompliance and "opting out". Needing less and living a simpler life. Even to get there we need quite an unlikely awakening in which the state has somehow badly lost control of the narrative. Which means conditions are likely very bad.
There are so many variables at play. AI will likely be changing things radically and soon. I see no reason why it won't be used as a tool for control.
