Americans somehow mostly don't get that war is not limited to the kinetic sort - China (and WEF-style elites) have been at war with America for a long time - what's the point of confronting a powerful enemy directly when, with patience (and cluelessness on the part of your opponent) you can bring about their weakening or outright collapse by other means? It's been working all too well for them so far.
Have to say I've lost a deal of respect for Victor Davis Hanson what with his suck up to Zionists. The Israeli tail wagging the American dog before the entire planet is a clear evidence (if anybody needed it) of the failure of American Empire on any number of levels.
And he thinks Iran is 'impotent'? Well, I guess the US and Israel are going to find out about that. BTW - just what is it about bankrolling (on borrowed billion$) and condoning genocide that contributes to M(ing)AGA?
A reminder on growing stuff: it doesn't have to be all vegetables/annuals. Perennials, including fruit are worthwhile even if they take a few years to get into production.
Also, think staples. Grains - wheat, barley, shell/field corn, buckwheat are staff of life stuff
and actually easier than a lot of vegetables and quite doable on a small scale. They do require more attention in harvesting, processing, storing... but there's a lot to be said for growing your own pancakes or tortillas.

Israel Hamas is yet another divide-n-rule method. We got about 15-20 of them that have rolled at us since COVID-19 entered our lives.
Historically, VDS was rather aligned towards the Bush wars, if I remember right.

Israel let such a failure in security happen. Why? (This was a full-scale operation - how could it even get going. That question never gets answered...but there is no way it was merely intel failure...)
Hamas-Houthis-pretty much the entire region now has seen how they can take US down, by multiple major crises (4-6 of them).....
CCP is gliding into the void we are making (by a orchestrated plan).
We are being played.....and I don't see an easy way around it.

We all come to our own conclusions in due course. Im not saying mine are any more significant but one feels the ominous weight of our country's (sins?) decisions are now revisiting us. So one does see God has to to play a part in our survival and learning.
Live small and learn new skills. I just learned basic electrician's skills, and my wife learned how to grow vegies and potatoes.
