Hi Jason, I also did some academic work at Motlow State Community College and went to church for a while with some of the Hammer family. Good people. I'm glad your mom found some support and love when she was here in Tennessee. Thank you for sharing her story. So sorry for your loss. Best regards,
She worked at Hammer's from 1977 to mid-1983. I used to go down into the basement level (she worked all over, but often there) and get candy and what not. Right on the square in Winchester - watched Superman on the Oldham Theatre.... Dinah Shore came from there, Mary Sharp School.... I lived there until 1983.
Jason you made me cry while reading this. I’m originally from Chicago & my wife’s family were from Clinton,Indiana. Our family’s had hard lives also but all us kids became a success, not rich but to have a rewarding life & kids. I remember the hours you said you would put in getting CFP going. You got that midwestern work ethic from your Mom just as we did from our parents. I hope you are taking care of yourself now. God Bless you & thanks for sharing this wonderful story of a different time that I was fortunate to grow up in. Go Cubs!!0
Your mom was quite a woman. She raised you well. May she rest in peace. Such a beautiful and inspirational remembrance. I’m a daughter of a Marine. Semper Fi.
Very touching memorial to another . . . MOTHER. Worst two years of my sorry-ass life - including 'Nam - was experiencing the slow painful death of another Mother w/ whom I shared 25 years before passing from pancreatic cancer.
Thank you. I never knew her, but in a way, I did. I was born in 1953. She was a chronologically matching wanderer through the same life that I have wandered through. She worked. And worked somemore. That was part of the times we were in. No keyboards. No cell phones. TV - maybe - but not much. She and I likely watched the Beatles appear on Ed Sullivan that one special Sunday night. I am sure we both knew exactly what we were doing and where we were when we heard President Kennedy had been shot. It's one of the things we all shared. I too am a Type II. She was I am sure one amazing person.
That was beautiful. God bless.
God bless you!
Great tribute
What a beautiful story. We are both lucky to have had incredible moms. Gob bless you, sir.

May we all do our all for Moms.

The Cubs are gonna win today! Go Cubs Go!
Thanks for reading!
What a cool freaking momma, she's lucky to have a son memorializing her so she'll never be forgotten.
God bless I wish i could help you right now. All I can offer is a prayer.
Prayers work too! Glad you stopped by. And I hope you have a good weekend and forthcoming holidays - HalloThankMas.
Christmas advertising begins! I suspect coal, oil and natural gas doesn't get much print space, but we may all need it very soon!

Salute, Donna! Much appreciated.
Lots of family went into the service - Vietnam, WW 1 & 2 and the more (in)famous ones were in the US Civil War... and Revolution.
(I did as well, USN 98-00).

Her favorite one: George Harrison...My Sweet Lord.
She was a Fran Tarkenton fan... Minnesota Vikings were her football team. Notre Dame too.
We were sports people.
JFK...yep.
