US investor Stephen Patrick Lynch, who has decades of business dealings in Moscow, has reportedly asked US officials for permission to bid on the sabotaged Nord Stream 2 pipeline if it is auctioned off in a Swiss bankruptcy court, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Lynch has discussed with US senators, Treasury officials, and State officials the possibility of American ownership of the sabotaged NS2 pipeline, which runs from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea.

Funny thing about Mr. Lynch… his lawyers are very well acquainted with Hunter Biden through the most famous laptop… and the same target is at hand: Liquified Natural Gas.

Lynch believes he can purchase the slightly used pipeline - with some wear and tear - for pennies on the dollar (the pipeline was once valued at around $11 billion)...

He has told people that he thinks he can buy Nord Stream 2, which has been valued at around $11 billion, for pennies on the dollar, according to people familiar with matter. He has said many investors won't bid because of the complex geopolitics tied to the conduit, and the other bidders are likely to include Russian proxies, Chinese entities or others at odds with US interests.

"The Biden administration and incoming Trump administration should be able to agree on this," Lee Wolosky, a former special counsel to President Biden and a friend of Lynch, said, adding, "His background as an American investor who has navigated Russia adeptly makes him well-suited to lead the effort."

The Nord Stream 2 Owner (Potentially)

Stephen Patrick Lynch’s company website, Monte Valle Partners, is sparse. And one can only find ~~one deal done~~ two deals done successfully - including a 2022 distress buy of the Swiss subsidiary of Russia’s Sberbank and Yukos Oil/Finance in 2007. In the former, Lynch’s Monte Valle acquired a minority stake while Lebanese partner, Abdallah Chatila secured the majority stake, forming up TradeXBank.

TradeX’s specialties: “in commodity trade finance in the fields of energy, agricultural products, fertilisers and metals.”

The second deal landed in various courts and jurisdictions for over a decade. A few key highlights exist that fills in a picture of Mr. Lynch Goes to Miami.

The 2007 takeover of the Dutch parts of Yukos Oil by Russian state oil company Rosneft's former subsidiary Promneftstroy was illegal, the Dutch Supreme Court ruled on Friday, upholding an earlier lower appeals court ruling.
Yukos Oil went bankrupt in 2006 after its former chief Mikhail Khodorkovsky, fell out with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the Russian government began demanding billions in back taxes.
Most of Yukos' assets were absorbed by the Kremlin's flagship oil producer Rosneft, and its former owners have for years been trying to recover their possessions.
The Dutch case involved the transfer in 2007 of $307 million worth of shares in Yukos Finance BV, a Dutch holding company, to Promneftstroy, a state-controlled investment company .
